With fall weather just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to arrange the outside of your home with fall decorations. Sprucing up your replacement windows and doors with some simple and unique designs can be a great way to begin the season and get in the mood for scarves, sweaters and pumpkin spice lattes.
Step up your curb appeal this fall with these fun décor projects that are easy, fresh and on-trend:
Project #1: Corn Husk Garland
This project will add fantastic curb appeal to your home’s windows or doors, depending on where you would like to hang the garland. Wherever you end up putting it, all this project takes is a few easy steps: cut rope to your desired length (outlining your windows or door) with a few additional inches to get a droopy effect, and stick corn husks to the rope with a hot glue gun. Put up your new garland to highlight your home access points!
Project #2: Door Wreath
Take the beautiful fall colors and transform them into a DIY wreath to put on your door. The supply list includes a wooden stick wreath, burlap, artificial fall foliage, scissors and a glue gun. This is what you’ll do: Cut the burlap into four 4x4-inch squares. Then, fold and glue the pieces of burlap along the sides of the wreath while gluing foliage in between the burlap squares.
Project #3: Welcome Sign
Creat an inviting feel to your home this fall with a blackboard “Welcome” or “Happy Fall” sign by your entry. Remind passersby what the season is really about and draw interest toward your festive fall entryway.
And while creating unique and colorful outdoor decorations is a simple way to get into the season spirit, make sure to prepare your replacement doors and windows for the cooler weather, too. They will look fantastic, but if your doors and windows are weathered or unprepared for the upcoming winter weather, they could let in cold drafts and leave you feeling cool in the upcoming months.
